Un antiguo gángster llamado Cesare Celli acude al entierro de un antiguo amigo y camarada. Al salir, se encuentra con cuatro hombres que le dicen que hay un coche esperándole. Éstos le piden un rescate de cincuenta mil dólares, pero Celli consigue convencerlos de que no tiene dinero. Además, les propone realizar juntos un golpe, con el que conseguirían un botín de cinco millones de dólares en platino. Para conseguir el dinero necesario, realizan una serie de pequeños robos.
